Although information is increasingly used in 3D format, traditional 2D drawings, which are convenient to be viewed on paper, are often also requested. Views, sections, floor plans and other detailed drawings in 2D format can be created from the Point Cloud.
2D drawings can be generated extra fast provided a 3D CAD model has been previously created. Even if the result is only needed in 2D format, it is a good idea to perform the survey using a laser scanner because it is very fast and, as an added value, detailed 3D information obtained from the object can be useful at a later stage.
If further information is needed later when conventional 2D methods are used, then a new survey must be carried out.
